Our basic beliefs

The Restoration Movement began in 1832 as a result of the 2nd Great Awakening. The early leaders of the Restoration movement had the thought and goal of getting back to the Scriptures that guided the early church. WCC is an independent group of Christians who seek to be dependent upon God. We choose to stand together with and affirm other churches that believe and teach the Scriptures to be authoritative and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As Christians we believe we have a responsibility of passing on God's truth to the next generation. 


We hold to the following principles: 


Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent


We are Christians only, but not the only Christians


No creed but Christ, no book but the Bible


No law but love, no name but the divine


We do Bible things in Bible ways, Call Bible things by Bible names


In essentials, unity; in opinions, liberty; in all things love

What we believe to be clearly revealed in Scripture: 

It is impossible to digest the word of God down into a few brief statements.  With that in mind the following statements give a summary of what seems most clear to us from Scripture.  


We believe in the Triune God of the Scriptures-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 3:16-17; John 14:9-11; II Corinthians 13:13


We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead. 

I Corinthians 15:1-8


We believe that the Bible is the theopnuestos (God-breathed) Word of God and is the authority on all things faith and practice. 

II Timothy 3:16-17


We believe in the worth of every person as a creation of God, but that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." 

Romans 3:23


We believe in the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life; available to those that place their faith in and allegiance to Jesus Christ both as Savior and Lord.

We believe the normative pattern for those accepting Christ is to believe that Christ rose from the grave, repent of their sins, confess Christ as Lord, and be baptized into Him.

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells in every believer to guide their lives and produce the fruit of the Spirit.

We believe in the weekly participation of the Lord's Supper

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ on earth and exists to save the lost and mature the saved until the return of Christ when the glorification of all believers will take place and we will spend eternity with Christ.
